Education and ADHD Assessments in Edmonton

Assessments are powerful tools to help uncover how individuals think, learn, and process information. Whether you're supporting a child in school or navigating learning as an adult, assessments provide valuable insights into strengths, challenges, and learning styles.

When you need a new approach but don’t know where to start

Is your child falling behind or starting to dislike school? Do you feel you are always “catching up” or not able to remain on one task long enough to get it done?

Educational and ADHD assessments help identify the reasons behind common struggles like:

  • Difficulty focusing or staying organized

  • Trouble with reading, writing, or math

  • Frequent frustration or low self-esteem at school or work

  • Challenges following instructions or completing tasks

  • Poor memory or slow processing speed

Whether you're a parent concerned about your child’s learning or an adult seeking answers, these assessments shine a light on what’s getting in the way—and how to move forward. With clear results and practical recommendations, individuals can access the support they need to succeed academically, professionally, and personally.

How Education Assessments and ADHD Assessments can make a difference.

Assessments provide adults and children personalized strategies, support plans, and targeted interventions. This leads to greater confidence, improved performance, and long-term success in school, work, and everyday life.

A psychoeducational assessment, also known as a learning assessment or education assessment, offers a deeper understanding of how a person learns, thinks, and processes information. It’s more than just a test—it's a roadmap to unlocking potential.

Understand the “why” in order to support the “how”.

This type of assessment can:

  • Identify learning strengths and challenges

  • Diagnose conditions like ADHD, learning disabilities, or mental health concerns

  • Provide clarity on academic struggles or behavioural concerns

  • Offer tailored strategies for school, home, or work

  • Support access to accommodations, extra help, and additional resources

For children, teens, or adults, a psychoeducation assessment is often the first step toward meaningful support and lasting success. With the right insights, growth and confidence become possible.

An ADHD assessment provides clarity, answers, and a path forward. Whether you're seeing signs in a child, teen, or adult, the right diagnosis can make all the difference.

An ADHD assessment can help:

  • Understand attention, focus, and self-regulation challenges

  • Distinguish ADHD from other mental health concerns

  • Explain struggles with organization, time management, or impulsivity

  • Open the door to effective strategies, tools, and supports

  • Build self-awareness, confidence, and better daily functioning

With a clear picture of unique brain processes, individuals can move from frustration to empowerment. Getting assessed is the first step toward meaningful support—and a better quality of life.

Techniques used in assessments

  • A psychoeducation assessment is a comprehensive evaluation designed to understand an individual's learning profile, including their strengths and challenges. The process involves several key steps:

    1. Referral and Clinical Interview: information is gathered from multiple sources to best understand a student’s presentation, behaviour, and learning experiences.

    2. Documentation Review: documents like report cards and intervention reports are commonly reviewed.

    3. Standardized Testing: the student engages in activities aimed at understanding their general cognitive profile, achievement profile, executive functioning, adaptive functioning, and social-emotional functioning.

    4. Reporting and Feedback: after all information is scored and interpreted the individual or guardians, in the case of a child, are provided with a written report and debrief meeting to ensure their understanding of the information and all recommendations noted.

  • An ADHD assessment is an evaluation designed to understand an individual's executive functioning as it applies to their current needs and functioning. The process involves several key steps:

    1. Referral and Clinical Interview: information is gathered from multiple sources to best understand the individual’s presentation, behaviour, and experiences.

    2. Standardized Testing: the individual engages in activities aimed at understanding their general cognitive profile, executive functioning, and social-emotional functioning.

    3. Reporting and Feedback: after all information is scored and interpreted the individual or guardians, in the case of a child, are provided with a written report and debrief meeting to ensure their understanding of the information and all recommendations noted.

An ADHD assessment can sometimes result in a diagnosis and always includes recommendations to support the individual with their current and future needs. It is not able to provide targeted academic recommendations. For this information please see the Education Assessments section.
